Even in the forest of difficulties, the glimmering flowers of ‘hope’ can be found.
And for that, one only has to have an eye for ‘beauty.’
Our lives are filled with various kinds of experiences, including calamities, disasters, and despair. No one is spared from falling prey to these tragedies, not even the most privileged.
Life may bring us down, but it does not mean that we’re to sit by and watch everything go wrong. It never means that nothing can be done about it.
As members of the human race, we have the liberty to look ‘beyond’ the surface. We don’t just ‘see’ what’s in front of us; we dare to deeply analyze situations and uncover complex realities beneath the obvious.
Though it may not always be easy to find beauty in the midst of difficulties, we can always seek help from those who understand beauty from its core.
Ira Porterfield is one such individual. His latest publication the New Life book offers readers a breathtaking view of life.
Learn to never forget to roll down your window when beauty appears as you drive by.

Essence of the ‘New Life’ Book
The New Life book by Porterfield is a compilation of poetry that discusses the importance of finding beauty even in difficult times.
To be fairly honest, difficult times do not come by seeking our permission. No matter how much we try to control our surroundings, some things are simply out of our control. Calamities can hit us like meteorites, bringing darkness that we must face.
These difficulties are not limited to natural disasters, they also include man-made tragedies, emotional, and spiritual crises.
In between all of this, Porterfield asserts that empathy, thoughtfulness, and patience are needed from those affected — and those around them.
By caring for others, regardless of differences, we allow beauty to bloom.
Every flower that withers, results in the birth of another.
Similarly, each time the sun sets and darkness takes over, a beaming moon rises. And even if the moon isn’t visible, beauty can be found among the stars,
Ira Porterfield: Who is He?
With a Ph.D. from Ohio State University, Ira Porterfield is a skilled author who effortlessly masters the art of poetry.
You might wonder if he recently started writing.
Well, that’s not the case.
This word-wizard started his journey of penning down wholesome poetries decades ago. With some of his works dating back to the 1960s and 1970s, Porterfield has over fifty years of experience in this art.
Professionally, Porterfield worked in the consultancy and manufacture of medical devices. But it did not take long for him to realize his true passion for poetry.
His family includes his loving wife, who’s the ultimate source of many great things in his life. Being his confidant, not only does she encourage him when the days are not the best, but she also advises him with carefully knitted ideas.
They have a wonderful family, sharing a close bond with their two daughters and their partners. The Porterfields are also proud grandparents to one granddaughter and six grandsons. Ira deeply appreciates each family member’s individuality and unique talents and holds them in great affection.
It’s noteworthy that before starting a family, he regularly composed and published his poetry. However, due to limited resources, his works remained a hidden gem.
What Inspires Porterfield
At the sight of something as simple as ‘nature,’ Porterfield gains intense inspiration to craft poetry, reflecting the very essence of reality.
He believes poetry is nothing less than a ‘gift’ from the Divine. The words seem to dawn upon him as he experiences life. And the only thing he does is gain the will to write them down.
When he’s done weaving the fabric of his poetry, he feels compelled to share his thoughts with his readers, especially friends and family.
As for the New Life book, Porterfield was primarily inspired by the devastating experiences that he and his family faced when Colorado experienced a wildfire in the middle of 2020. Though the fire was contained by the end of the same year; the infrastructural damage, evacuation, and environmental shortcomings caused by this wildfire were beyond agonizing.
For Porterfield, the message of his works is simple: nature’s resilience and ability to heal itself.
Porterfield is a staunch believer in the idea that no matter how much withering nature goes through, it always chooses to bounce back against all odds. Not only does it heal itself, but it continues to bloom as well.
In the end, all beauty lost at the plight of devastation is returned to nature’s home — safe and sound. And even in the midst of devastation, beauty can be sought in the ‘resilience’ of nature.
